Cyprus is influenced by a European legal system with a democratic elected President as head of state for a 5 year period. 

Legal System 

The legal system on the island is based on the British and Greek legal systems.  The Land Registry is considered to be one of the most advanced and secure systems available.

There is a choice of banks that offer services such as the opening of foreign and local bank accounts including mortgage loans. 

Language 

The islands mother language is Greek, however, having been a British Colony, English is taught as a second language and is widely spoken. 

Education 

A selection of schools with a high level of education is provided for Cypriot and Foreign students. 

Medical Services 

The medical services offered in Cyprus are excellent and include an option of hospitals, private clinics and medical centers with specialized doctors. 

Pets 

It is mandatory for family pets from EU countries to obtain and possess an EU passport for movement between member states. An additional EU Health Certificate will be required from other countries.
